There was a point in time when my Grandparents would have been forbidden to marry in this country. She is Mexican and by marrying a man of European descent it was considered an interracial marriage. Until the day she died my (Paternal) Great-Grandmother shunned her for being of a different ethnicity. She wasn't the only one to give them verbal abuse for marrying. I might have never existed if those opinions and laws had remained. My Grandparents married because they loved each other, it had nothing to do with the color of their skin.

Our generation's fight is to let marriage be equal not just for all races but for all genders. Love is love. I support marriage equality.

I feel so sad that this is such an issue in my 'other country'. I feel like here we passed it as legal for the whole country and everyone kinda shrugged and went "wait, it wasn't already? huh..." and most the people here I know (in this or younger) generation don't even know what year that happened here because it was such a common sense non-issue. It breaks my heart that this has to be such a huge effing deal in the states. That it even needs to be such a focus. That it causes so much grief, and disgusting amounts of hatred.

I agree so much. I mean, I can't fathom how it's an issue here anymore. *sighs*

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people will not feel insecure around you.

We are all meant to shine, as children do. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone and as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give others permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
